Knowing that legacy E/E Architectures in vehicles not only present security risks, but would be unfit for the emerging world of data-driven business models, we did an extended consulting project for a next generation in-vehicle hardware and software platform.
We developed the market entry strategy for a next-generation in-vehicle AI platform and related cloud services for machine learning, autonomous fleet monitoring and mobility services. The company reinvents legacy architectures based on Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and bus using a software-defined and centralized hardware and software architecture to realize unmatched data processing and in-vehicle machine learning and artificial intelligence in an energy-efficient manner. This platform follows the principle of “no data gets thrown away” and leverages data accuracy and contextualization as a foundation for next generation personalization and on demand features.
New Mobility Consulting planned and executed the global market launch and developed high value customer and partner relationships for this client.

Enterprise Software Startup
This project was conducted for a mid-sized software company in Germany. We performed a market opportunity assessment for the US market including market sizing, buyer need analysis and competitive landscape. Developed a market entry strategy and Go-to-Market Plan that is being executed successfully.
ROBERT BOSCH GMBH
"Blockchain in the New Mobility"
This project was conducted in 2016 for the world’s largest independent Automotive supplier and focused on exploring blockchain technologies and applications in the future of smart mobility and transportation. In support of the Bosch Internet of Things and Software + Services strategy we helped Bosch envision an “Economy of Things” that would take advantage of existing assets across the Bosch Group and open up new revenue opportunities through decentralized systems. The project has informed strategic decisions of the global CEO and lead to the establishment of an R&D team and related investments by Robert Bosch Ventures.
"THE CAR AS A WALLET"
This project explored the “Car as a Wallet” and the role of the vehicle as a platform. This included an analysis of the traditional payment processing value chains, the strategic importance of digital payments and related use cases. We analyzed existing and emerging technologies and their potential to enable new business models. We explored strategies to disrupt existing payment processing based on the premise of machine wallets as the root of trust in open, decentralized machine-to-machine ecosystems.

This project was conducted for the CIO and Chief Innovation Officer of a large electric utility company. The executive team commissioned the research to understand how technology innovations and new business models transform the electric utility industry. We researched exponential technology and emerging business models and developed possible futures and implications for electric utilities.

Joint Projekt with Automotive OEM and Startup
Early on we understood the important role of over-the-air (OTA) updates in keeping connected cars secure, relevant and engaging through new features and content. We also see OTA as an important element in emerging business models such as features over the air and features on demand. We collaborated with a startup and an Automotive OEM to enhance security of OTA and create a secure end-to-end audit trail.
“HOW EXPONENTIAL TECHNOLOGIES DISRUPT THE INSURANCE SECTOR”
Global Insurance Carrier
This project was conducted for the NA CEO of a large insurance carrier. We explored the implications of exponential technologies (IoT and smart sensors, robotics, cloud, AI and cognitive computing, blockchain, etc.) on the insurance sector. We performed a high-level value chain mapping of how startups disrupt the insurance value chain and explored future business models and strategic imperatives.
"USAGE-BASED INSURANCE IN MOBILITY"
Connected Vehicle Data Platform
Advised usage-based insurance start-up with the biggest fleet of commercial vehicle data in the world. Based on the premise that insurance would become an emerging business opportunity for OEMs we helped this company explore markets beyond insurance carriers, including mobility services and fleet operators. We also engaged with Tier 1 suppliers to explore new business models related to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and risk assessment. In this project we also explored data contextualization and actuarial risk as well as new approaches to ad hoc, transaction-based insurance of mobility.

Using Sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) combined with Distributed Ledger Technologies and Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the company is developing a autonomous farming robots to achieve greater yield with lowest environmental impact and cost.
